Dwight & Phil ringer tee
"It all started at a matinee showing of A Hard Day's Night...that magic moment hit, you know the old Lennon falls for McCartney, Keith digs Mick, and we've been together ever since."
Oister, the Dwight Twilley Band, and Phil Seymour have been such huge inspirations in my life. You know the kinds of bands that, when you love them so much and then meet someone else who feels the same way, you make such an immediate connection and become instant best friends? That definitely happened when I met my friend Jaime twenty years ago. Twilley, Redd Kross, Pulp, Cheap Trick, Nick Lowe, and countless other bands were the soundtrack to all of our adventures. We almost immediately started a band called Garbo's Daughter and had a total blast writing songs, playing shows, recording, and living out our rock & roll daydreams. The first Christmas after we met (side note: we made Christmas cookies of Dwight & Phil and Redd Kross that year!), she gave me the coolest gift: a magazine clipping she’d found of Dwight and Phil with the sweetest captions underneath the photos.
My heart was shattered recently when Jaime unexpectedly passed away. I have so much I want to say about her, but I know it's going to take time for me to find all the words. But for now, I wanted to share that magazine clipping with that lovely quote.
I hope that all of the Dwights out there find their Phils, the Johns find their Pauls, the Keiths find their Micks, and the Mandys find their Jaimes. Music is always the most magical connection.
Thank you to my lovely friend Mary (and my little rascal Dennis!) for posing for the perf pic!
